Single Sign-On (SSO) is an essential authentication model that increases security, decreases login friction, and optimizes identity management. Through supporting users to log in once and access many applications, SSO eliminates password exhaustion and decreases credential-based attacks such as phishing and brute force. It also reduces IT complexity through the centralization of access management, simplifying it to impose security policies and meet compliance requirements. But if not well secured, SSO can be a point of failure. In order to minimize risks, organizations need to put in place Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), have stringent access policies, and use continuous monitoring to identify possible threats.
